Watch Your Car Program
The Arizona Automobile Theft Authority (A.A.T.A.) “Watch Your Car” program is a free, voluntary program whereby vehicle owners are encouraged to register their vehicles with local law enforcement agencies. The vehicle information is entered into the Motor Vehicle Department (M.V.D.) database and registrants are provided decals to display on the vehicle windshield. By registering in this program, the vehicle owner is giving permission for law enforcement to stop their vehicle anytime between the hours of 1:00am and 5:00am, when the majority of vehicle thefts occur, and verify it is being legally operated by the rightful owner. It also allows for law enforcement officials to stop the vehicle at any time during the day or night within one (1) mile of the border, if there is suspicion that the vehicle is being operated illegally.
